Once a GFLOW model has been created, a multi-layer MODFLOW model may be extracted and imported into MODFLOW. This facilitates expanding the single aquifer steady state GFLOW model into a three-dimensional multi-aquifer and transient MODFLOW model. The aquifer properties and streams, lakes and wells inside the model grid are automatically translated into MODFLOW cells with given head, given discharge or head dependent discharge. The (grid) perimeter boundary conditions (heads or fluxes) are obtained from the GFLOW solution. All cells in the interior of the grid are preconditioned with heads obtained from the GFLOW solution, which speeds up MODFLOW convergence.
